“Kennzeichnend für meine Arbeit ist es, mit dem Cello Techniken und Spielarten zu entwickeln, die es mir ermöglichen, die traditionelle Klangfarbenskala des Cellos so zu erweitern, dass ein musikalisches Grenzgängertum zwischen Barock, Moderne, Jazz und Rock möglich ist.

Grundlage ist die Idee, elektronische Effekte aus Jazz, Rock und Experimentalmusik rein akustisch auf dem Cello zu erzeugen.

Fasziniert von Jimi Hendrix farbiger und ideenreicher Art die elektronische Gitarre zu spielen kam der Wunsch, die Originalversionen, also mit allen Improvisationen, auf dem Cello zu spielen und eben auch die Effekte in kammermusikalischer Besetzung, also Cello und Klavier bzw. Cello, Gitarre und Percussion

Hierzu erschien die CD Separate Reality (Prinz Medienhaus, Mannheim) mit Cello und Klavier, auf der neben Debussy, Messiaen und Hendrix auch Eigenkompositionen zu hören sind.”

“Characteristic of my work is the experimentation with different cello techniques and styles, allowing me to expand the traditional tone colour spectrum of the cello in order to make possible crossovers between baroque, modern, jazz and rock music.

The basic principle is to realize electronic effects from jazz, rock and experimental music using the acustical capabilities of the cello.

Fascinated by Jimi Hendrix´s colourful and creative manner on the electric guitar, I became inspired to play his original versions including his improvisations and to arrange them for cello and piano or cello, guitar and percussion.

One of the first fruits of this work is the CD „separate reality“ with cello and piano which not only includes pieces by Debussy, Messiaen and Hendrix, but also a selection of my own compositions.”
